Please note that the event routes are multi-terrain and off-road. There are gates, stiles and areas of rough ground to negotiate. While these all add to the fun of the challenge, unfortunately the Half Marathon, 10k and 5k loops are not suitable for wheelchairs or prams.
Please remember that some sections of the route may be narrow and that there are kissing gates and stiles to traverse. Walkers are requested to give way to runners who may be approaching from behind.
All participants enter at their own risk. The organisers of this event have no liability for damage or injury arising from this event however caused unless negligence is proved.
Start and End Times
Each Challenge event will have a phased mass start for fast runners, slow runners and walkers. Please aim to be in the starting area at least 10 minutes before the published start time for your event. Fast runners will be positioned towards the front of the starting funnel, followed by slower runners, then walkers.
Half Marathon 9:00am
The Half Marathon event must be completed within 5 hours and the event will end at 2pm. Participants finishing after this time will be classed as DNF. The half marathon loop will be progressively closed down starting from 11:30pm.
Participants will be issued with a race number containing a timing chip. The chip will be activated when you cross the start line and deactivated when you cross the finish line, allowing your personal event time to be calculated. Results will be available on-line after the event has finished. Results will be calculated against the official event start time. Please ensure your race number is worn on front for video timing verification.
All finishers will be presented with a Cheltenham Challenge medal . Winners medals will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed male and female in each event as measured from the official event start time.
Cheltenham Challenge is committed to reducing our impact on the environment by reducing wastage and limiting the use of single-use disposable plastic containers. We ask that participants BRING AND RUN WITH their own REFILLABLE DRINKS BOTTLE. Water stations will be equipped with jugs for refilling.
Refreshments and Toilets
Ample toilet facilities are available in the main racecourse grandstand close to the event village. There will be refreshment stations with free water refills and snacks located around the half marathon and 10k loops
Dogs are permitted but it is the responsibility of the dog owner to decide whether the course length, the ground conditions, and the weather conditions are suitable for their dog. Whilst the Cheltenham Challenge is NOT an organised Canicross event, we would refer dog owners to the welfare and other general guidance given within the Kennel Club’s “General Regulations for Canicross Competitions”.
Dogs must be kept on a leash and under control at all times. Participants with dogs are requested to position themselves well back in the starting funnel to avoid any potential entanglement when the race starts. Whilst we work with landowners to ensure the routes across their property are freely passable, participants are asked to bear in mind that livestock may be present in some fields. Dog water bowls are available at water stations. Dog owners must carry poop bags and dispose of dog waste responsibly.
Personal information provided during the registration process will be used solely for the purpose of managing the Cheltenham Challenge event. Unless you have given us explicit permission, we will not share, or use for any other purpose, any data collected during the registration process.
